Duncan looked set to embark on a career in marketing having completed an HND in Business Studies and taken a first job in marketing for an IT company, however after his natural flair for design soon became apparent he moved to an in-house design role.
Realising he needed more experience he moved to work for a successful London agency whose clients included Speedo, Berghaus, Kickers, Ben Sherman, Sky Sports, Renault and Symantec. He ended up staying for over 6 years working in both design and production eventually leaving in early 2000 to work in a freelance capacity.
This was perfect timing for Joanne's big decision to start her own agency so having previously worked together (and most importantly having managed not to kill each other) the foundation of what has proved to be a winning partnership was formed with the successful launch of Design Eclectic in 2001.
Duncan's experience gave great insight into the ideal agency from a creative perspective. Having seen many creative people struggle within the confines of traditional agency restraints but also with working freelance directly through poor project management or client service skills, he believes that Design Eclectic's innovative approach provides the ideal solution as it allows the creative team to concentrate solely on what they do best which results in consistently fresh and innovative work (and if they prefer to do that wearing their pyjamas all day then that's not a problem!)
When off duty Duncan tries to stay sane in a household with 3 kids, 2 dogs, 2 horses, 2 rabbits, 1 cat (currently building an ark) or when the sanity levels are low he escapes to play football several times a week. He's become quite a health fanatic, stating his body is a temple ... and can also be found trying and failing to beat his son at computer games!
