Duncan looked set to embark on a career in marketing having completed an HND in Business Studies and taken a first job in marketing for an IT company, however after his natural flair for design soon became apparent he moved to an in-house design role.
Realising he needed training and broader experience he moved to work in the production department of a successful London agency whose clients included Speedo, Berghaus, Kickers, Ben Sherman, Sky Sports, Renault, Symantec, SMC, US Robotics and Allied Telesyn. He stayed with this agency for over 6 years working in both design and production eventually leaving in early 2000 to work in a freelance capacity.
Having previously worked with Joanne this was ideal timing for the formation of a winning partnership and Design Eclectic was successfully launched in 2001.
Duncan's experience gave great insight into the ideal agency from a creative perspective. Having seen many creative people find it hard to work within the confines of a traditional agency and also struggle with working freelance directly through poor project management or client service skills, he believes that Design Eclectic's innovative approach provides the ideal solution as it allows the creative team to concentrate solely on what they are best at which results in consistently fresh and innovative work.
